Prepare Flights

A browser-based flight briefing and weather tool for general aviation pilots, with a focus on Nordic airspace and weather data.

What is Prepare Flights?

Prepare Flights brings flight weather, airspace, NOTAMs and route-planning tools into a single interactive map view. The goal is to make general aviation briefings faster and more complete — instead of bouncing between tabs, everything you need is on one surface.

The app is built as a modern Progressive Web App: it runs in any browser, can be installed to your home screen and supports offline use. No need to install anything from an app store.

Development status

The app is in active development. Features may change and bugs may exist. We welcome user feedback — it's how we make the app better.

Pricing

Prepare Flights is currently free for its users. No ads, no tracking.

Data sources

The app uses several professional data sources:

  • NOAA Aviation Weather (METAR, TAF, SIGMET)
  • Open-Meteo (weather models, Nordic HARMONIE-AROME)
  • OpenAIP (airspace and airports)
  • Flyk (Finland airspace detail)
  • FMI (Finland: SWC, LLF)
  • SMHI, DMI, Met Norway (Nordic SWC/LLF)
  • EUMETSAT (satellite imagery)
  • NASA GIBS (daily true-colour basemap)
  • RainViewer (precipitation radar)

Important: Prepare Flights is intended solely for situational awareness and briefing support. It is not an official navigation or briefing tool. It is the user's responsibility to always verify critical information (AIP, official NOTAM services, ATC, weather services) from official sources before starting a flight. The authors are not liable for any damage arising from the use of the app.
